  1. i think the problem is sorted, ill have to test it out, not exactly ideal but it should be ok. hopefully i’ll have it uploaded today or tomorrow.if it wasnt for win7 it would have been done a week ago!

  2. LOL! Yeah, that’s right, bro! 😛

By the way, I was thinking another thing…
Are the backgrounds and icons suitable enough to make a theme? I mean if the backgrounds are not too small and the icons not too big, because in this case I’d be forced to upscale the images and resize the icons: for example, if an image is 1600×1200, I should enlarge it to 1920×1080 but this way the graphic would be grainy and the final result would be a little crap…

  3. this is what happens when you put someone in a room with a person that knows everything about computers and nothing about the psn and the other person knows everything about the psn and nothing about computers.. lol, dig it!

  4. Hmmm… maybe you could try to upload them on “turboimagehost”, but in this case, I think there would be too much stuff to download (and lots of links)…

Or you could find someone who puts together all your material in a file that can be uploaded somewhere (in a file hosting site) so that I can download it…

  5. the only thing i can think of is if you create an account briefly just to get my icons and backgrounds, you can use a fake email address, the only thing the email is used for is add’s from playstation really , and i can never aquire your fake email unless you give it to me.. its pretty simple really. any other suggestions?

  6. doom:

oh yeah! lol. psn ‘LLLL_DooM_LLLL’ i will apear as llll_DooM_llll when requested. and um get ready for like 94 messages… lol. sound cool?

Well, I think you’ll have to find another way, mate… you know, I’m not on PSN because I don’t have my PS3 connected since I’ve never been interested.
Basically, I’m an “old school player”: it means that I don’t like to stay online downloading useless stuff on my PS3 like mini(s) games, horrible themes, or f**king DLCs for “incomplete games”.
    And most of all, I’m a “lone player”… 😀

Anyway, I also have to admit that the only thing which is starting to interest me is the possibility to download patches for those games that don’t work properly: but this can be done without PSN (and honestly, I don’t even know how to register on PSN… :P)

  7. oh yeah! lol. psn ‘LLLL_DooM_LLLL’ i will apear as llll_DooM_llll when requested. and um get ready for like 94 messages… lol. sound cool?

  8. Hey, Doom! Do you remember your request about a Doom 64 theme?
You told me that you have lots of icons and backgrounds, but… well, if you don’t give me that material in some way, how am I supposed to make a theme for you??? 😀

  9. Oh, man! You got the damn Windows 7…! No, not you, please! 😛

Well, F-Rott’s right: the MSVCP71.dll is a Runtime library that must be placed in Windows/System 32 folder.
Anyway, since you’re using Win7, you maybe need to install the latest version of .NET Framework (in which there should also be the dll file you miss).
OR you absolutely need to do the same thing I explained to many others:

go to “lili-chan.com” site and register. Then, go to “Support” ==> “Official Lili-Chan Theme Builder Discussion & Support” ==> “Theme Builder v3.0 Bug Reports”.
Now go to PAGE 7 and in the 2nd post (by SBCroix) there’s an attachment which contains the “Beta 4.0” files.

Basically, you have to replace the “3.0 files” with the “Beta 4.0” ones, so… read carefully the post before using those files.

  10. yogosan:

hey optimus, any idea why msvcr71 isnt recognized on win7 with the basic compiler, god i miss winxp

Put it in a different folder, like the main Theme Builder one, or drop a copy of it in your win32 folder. Just ideas. I’m running Theme Builder on Windows 7 with no problems and those are what I did.

  11. lol, i’d be lying if i said pokemon wasn’t a guilty pleasure of mine when i was young………does what i just said sound perverted?

  12. Well I’m gonna give you guys an exclusive ps3-themes.com reboot theme only hint: Pokémon Cards!

  13. Oh, well… if you consider that I’m suffering the Peter Pan syndrome, I think it will work for sure! 😛

  14. Well I’ll try not to! I’m kinda making something for the kid inside us all! 😛
    Hope it’ll work!

  15. @JASON2590: … 😀 😀 😀 …

@DAHL: I don’t really know what are you planning, but… I’m counting on you: do not disappoint me, bro! 😉

@DOOM: Hey, if you’re about to “back to the future”, let me know if I won the lotto… 😛

  16. OPTIMUS:

    @DOOM: LOL! Yeah, absolutely true!
    @JASON2590: Oops! I’m late… well done, mate!
Anyway, “Chat Room Text” goes under friends icon, not Games (unless I missed something while I wasn’t here…)

oh yeh didnt even notice i typed that, yeh chat room text is under chat

  17. @DOOM: LOL! Yeah, absolutely true! 😀

  18. dahl:

Optimus, you’ll have to explain once again how to add the icons not already in the theme builder

here you go mate, from my forum post,
“As you know there are new icons with the update so when you get the theme builder you will need to add them, when you have the theme builder open click tools and then icon manager.
There are three that need to be added, so on the left coloumn
click ‘Video’, then on the right click ‘Add New Icon’ another window will pop up called ‘Edit Icon…’ for icon name put ‘ Video Editor & Uploader ‘ and for Xml ID put ‘ icon_video_upload ‘
click ‘Games’, then on the right click ‘Add New Icon’ another window will pop up called ‘Edit Icon…’ for icon name put ‘ Minis Saved Date ‘ and for Xml ID put ‘ icon_savedata_minis ‘
click ‘Games’, then on the right click ‘Add New Icon’ another window will pop up called ‘Edit Icon…’ for icon name put ‘ Chat Room Text ‘ and for Xml ID put ‘ icon_chatroom_text ‘
    Now click save and exit.”

  19. i would think it would be cool to work in a cemetery, people are die’N to get in and the customers dont complain! lol

  20. Optimus, you’ll have to explain once again how to add the icons not already in the theme builder 🙂

  21. doom:

yeah im washing dishes in university city PA right now, yeah.. my carrier is totally amazing. lol,

    Well… it’s a starting point, at least… 😛
    Think that I also worked in a cemetery… O_o

As for the HDD free space… sometimes an error may occur even if your HDD has tons of free space, but it’s always related to a bug in some games versions (like the 0x000000001 in GT5 that says there’s not enough free space): but those are extreme cases that can be solved only by formatting the HDD.

Anyway, you can replace the internal hard drive with another one, but remember that it must be formatted in FAT32…

(Oh, and… thanks for the “pretty cool dude” :D)

  22. yeah im washing dishes in university city PA right now, yeah.. my carrier is totally amazing. lol,

  23. wow thanks for the info about the gigs and the system fan! you do really know your stuff!! lol, i can stop worrying about how mutch gigs i have left and i wont make the mistake of drilling holes in the bottom to create more ventilation because it would harm the system, wow this is like the homebrew do’s N dont’s forum! lol.. anyways your a pretty cool dude optimus! good stuff!

  24. Yep, it sucks, but… everything’s related to the fact that every external can be formatted as you wish, but the internal HDD absolutely needs to be associated to the PS3 serial number (just for security and other stuff like that…)

Don’t worry: having only 3GB does not cause any problem (apart the fact you can’t install big games… :D)

As for the “additional holes”… well, just leave everything as it is: PS3’s cooling system (like the whole body of the console) is studied and designed to evacuate as much hot air as possible.
Actually, adding holes in the bottom half of the console is useless, because the cooling system is strong enough to prevent dust settles (in fact, it has 4 speeds): on the contrary, additional holes are likely to unbalance the air flows inside the console and there’s the risk that some components do not cool down properly.
To keep clean your console, you can use a low power vacuum (like the little one used to clean car seats) to safely remove dust settles.

Well, I’ve been lots of things in my life, but I started my “career” as technician.

  25. thats pretty cool that your a technician! sounds like you know your stuff man. yeah i have been deleting old game data aswell, its bogus but hey, it is what it is, ‘old’ data… i wish sony would come up with new features in updates already.. i need a pick me up! lol

  26. it sucks that you cant use n external as n internal through the usb port, that would be sick.. do you know if only having 3 gigs free is safe? i haven’t attempted to remove the bottom half of the system yet, kinda scared to… but then again im curious as to how mutch dust is in there and i want my system clean obviously, also i saw some people on youtube drill ‘air holes’ around the bottom half to allow n increased air flow through the fan, if i ever get the courage to try it i think ill get some kind of screen material mutch like the material in the front vent of the ps2 fat and glue a seal arond the holes from the inside. but then again would this cause problems? my creative curiosity could kill the cat, lol.

  27. LOL! You’re a mad scientist… 😛 but you’re like me, mate!
Well… I’m a technician, so I always clean my PS3 removing dust, lubricating gears, checking the lens and so on.
Anyway, I never had YLOD or other problems, so I never needed additional fans. BUT my controller died 1 month ago (charging cycles for the battery are about 450 if I remember correctly) and I’m forced to play using the usb cable connected… but it doesn’t matter 😛
Well, I still have 3GB available (really few for another game) so I’m thinking about replace the HDD, but… yeah, the back up procedure is so boring that I’m just deleting the old games data for now 🙁

  28. it sucks that your running out of room for games.. i have 14 gigs left on my system to keep it from overloading, i was thinking of getting a internal drive myself, the thing that sucks is you hafta buy n external to back everything up before you install the internal or youll lose everything. meh…

  29. will be to take a power pack from an old tyco rc car and wire it to N ‘intec’ battery attachment for the wireless controller, my controller wont die for a month…….. lmao. on the flip side it will take four hours to charge it.. but whuddeva hehe.. wow just thinking of how long i can stretch the battery life with the power save option is crazy,, it would be like a damn everlasting gobstopper… lol

  30. yeah if i didnt hook all these fans up my ps would have yellow lighted a while ago, my friends think im crazy because i leave the top off of my system to allow heat to escape, not too long ago my inernal fan was SCREAMING one night, i put my finger tips on my power supply and it was burnin up, that was what inspired the usb fan i made, ive been keeping this system alive! lol, i learned how all the gears work, had to clean the lens once already.. simple little problems that can be fixed with a ‘q tip’ some windex, and some spare pc fans! maybe some dust off, when i fabricated the pc fans to the temp smart i kinda impressed myself a little, lol i was like wow! i did that! lol, i used the clear packaging the unit came in, some small screws, and a little ‘mighty puddy’ to eliminate vibrations, i created a supper cooler! lol, but im dumb as s#!t when it comes to computers, i dont even know how to set up a face book account.. lol, its wild, i had to get my girl to format my external.. anyway i think my next project

  31. Wow! Looks like you built a nuclear power plant… 😛
Yep, I also have a FAT bought at day 1 and don’t need to buy another PS3…
Slims only have a bigger HDD and they heat up less than FAT, but all the rest is the same: no advanced browser or stuff like that because their OS works using a firmware which is the very same for every PS3.
The only thing is that I need to change the HDD because after installing GT5, I’ve no more free space… 🙁

  32. i know right! well i still have a ‘ps3 fat’ with n external to store all my movies,, so im not in a big rush to get a slim, i also hooked up a nyko ‘temp smart’ with computer fans and added a homebrew usb fan for my power supply.. my point being, im not sure how advanced the slims are when it comes to the browser.. but i know when im restricted, i even went back to see if the cropping squares were invisible,, nada. it just dont work.. lol

  33. LOL! Good slogan…! 😛

Ooops! Sorry, I forgot you’re not using a PC.
But that’s weird: there should be a way to do it with PS3 though…
