Here is (finally :P) your theme!
I’m sorry it took so long, but… you know, there were no suitable images to make a decent theme, so I used the only good one I found for a background and I enriched it with some small effect, but then I also decided to create another background from scratch with my own hands (which is the one you can see in the preview image) and… well, it’s been a hard work, because I obviously had to create pixel by pixel every single piece, from the hexagons to the smallest symbol… then, I made a render of Raiden from another image, creating a 3D effect, light and shadow and so on…
Another reason is that, as I told you last time, my health conditions are quite critical, so I’ve been able to work only when I felt good, therefore it took longer than expected. Sorry again… 🙁
Well, mate, I sincerely hope you have a HDTV, because I worked on a very high quality image (although, saving it in jpeg format, there’s always a minimal loss of detail) and the SD image is obviously worse than HD one…
So, the theme contains:
-2 HD/SD backgrounds (1 standard + 1 totally handmade)
-handmade icons
-no boring sounds

Remember? I left this site in November because I had the eviction and I was fired. Then, I managed to get back here in February because I found a new home, but since that day I’m still searching for a job.
Sure, crisis struck hard everywhere, but the United States are a great country and there are many chances anyway, while Italy is just the “Europe’s ass hole”: it always been hard to find a job here, but now things are getting reeeally bad and… you know, because of my health problems I’m practically condemned, given that I will never find a job due to my conditions… 🙁

yeah, im kinda in bad shape tho. i cant seem to find a job, this recesion is killing me,, i put applications in all over the place, im not getting any calls back.. :(, my daughters birthday is december 14th, and obviously christmas is 11 days after… i dont have any money. im starting to get real depressed.. idk.. i need a drink. lol

yeah.. seems like sertain systems wher assembled differently, have you ever seen the inside of a slim!? its like looking under the hood of a bmw,, lol, anyway, yeah im pretty screwd with this blu-ray BS, i am gonna hafto cruise the ebay for a new drive.. people sell parts on there, hopefully i find one cheap. meh.. damn malfunctions
Ugh… sorry, mate! I think it’s my fault because I’m referring to my PS3 which is the 60GB FAT version, and I didn’t consider that maybe you own a different one… 😛
Anyway, once you lifted the Blu Ray drive: if you flip it, you’ll see there’s a squared hole in the metal sheet with a processor in the center.
Ok, when the drive is mounted, the processor rests on the thermal paste that is positioned on the metal shield that covers the internal boards of PS3 (as you can see in the image I linked here)

i couldn’t find any thermal paste, just metal… black sqare computer chips directly on metal, looked like the left colorful burn patterns on the sheet metal like stuff from underneath the unit.., under the metal sheeth of the unit that covers the chip bourd, just ‘foam’ feet.. sorry if i suck at explaining this stuff but i didnt see “paste” anywhere… ‘?’ i just gotta get a new drive.. this shit has gotten way too frustrating.. way too complex for me… yes that stuff was white..
Uhm… what’s the color of that “substance”?
-If it’s white, then it surely is the grease used to lube the gears (Sony uses that kind of grease since the PS1 era) that usually tends to become dry after some years.
-If the color is different (green, for example), then it’s a kind of glue that keeps firm (and in the right position) a specific gear which is part of the lens’ mechanics.
Anyway, whatever the case, I suggest you not to touch the lens’ mechanics yet: it’s much better to go step by step before acting on a part that is very difficult to fix or replace once it has been modified. That’s why I told you about the thermal paste: aside the dirty lens, it usually is one of the main reasons why a PS3 stops reading disks…
So, did you find the thermal paste layer?
If yes: is it still soft? I mean… when you touch, it should be thick and consistent, but soft and supple like a jelly at the same time (and it should seem as if it was cold). In this case, the thermal paste is ok. Instead, if the paste looks hard and its surface is rough and/or starts to show small cracks, then you should try to replace it (and it shouldn’t cost much)
This is usually one of the first steps (and an easy and cheap way) to follow when trying to fix a PS3 that no longer reads the disks 😉
i removed the drive from the system and started tinkering with the bottom gears.. found out how to get that little white prong to lift.. ok, then flipped over the drive and took off all the metal till i got inside the laser to the mini moter inside that focuses the lens.. there is a little pin that comes out of the motor that works like a screw on the gear to shift the inner lens back and forth to focus the laser like a pupil on n eye ball.. there seems to be some kind of crust on the motor screw” i believe it was the loob for the screw to flow with the gear smoothly, seems like it got dry and became a crusty substance… now.. while the screw pin on the mini moter was shifting across this crusty grease shit, it could have slowly broke off particals of this dryed up grease and created a powder like substance that got on the mirrors and inner lens… ovcourse its just a theary.. FML. i hate this.. ovcourse i could be completely wrong and im just jerking off with the wrong piece all together.. DAMN IT TO HEEYYLL.. >:o
idk, it happens even when the system first starts up, im having a hard time getting that white prong in the front to come up.. thermal paste huh!!?? sounds like some ylod stuff.. never used thermal paste b4.. how mutch is it usually?
Uhm… well, at this point I think it could be the data processor placed under the Blu Ray drive… if you look closely, it rests on a squared layer of “thermal paste” when the drive is mounted: it could be that the paste is no more able to cool down the processor, so it happens that the disk is recognized and the blue led is on, but the processor is overheated and cannot send the data to the CPU…
Time ago a friend of mine had a problem very similar to yours, and I fixed it by simply replacing the thermal paste (which can be found in every computers shop): maybe you could try… 😉
yes, i did the same thing, i took a “Q-tip” & windex, placed the nozle of the windex directly on the q-tip and saturated only the cotton end on the one side, gently twisted the q-tip over the glass eye, waited for a few seconds to let the chemical do its thing, then flip the tip and give it the streak free shine!!! this procedure worked perfect anytime i had n issue…. i also used a little alcohol aswell at times.. its not the gears because i adjust the gears manually with my fingers, the top of the drive with the “white arms” is completely off so you can see the disk while its spinning while* playing, i can eject and insert disks with only the bottom half of the drive assembled using ‘finger karate’ lol, anotherwords i KNOW its not the gears.. i KNOW its not the top of the lens.. the blue light indicating that a disk has been inserted does come on,, however the laser doesnt turn purple anymore when i clean it it flashes red as if i never cleaned it in the first place.. sometimes green? weird, but it does that spin & stop bullshit.. i think i just burned it out…?

Think that it seems Bethesda is forced to put Skyrim on 2 disks for the 360, and I’ve heard that Rage even needs not only 3 disks but also the complete installation to work correctly… O_O
(but we have to install 8GB, anyway)
About the Blu Ray drive…
Is it unable to read games? Or… did you get the YLOD?
I’m asking because 2 months ago, my PS3 suddenly stopped to read games: so, I had to clean the lens using a small swab (something like the one to clean the ears) soaked with just a drop of alcohol, I waited about 10 secs, then I dried it with another swab and everything started working perfectly (that’s because I didn’t clean the lens for 3 years… :P)
So, try to do that.

unfortunately my blue ray drive died on me, somthin went wrong with it and i need a new one.. i cant play rage, even if i had the cash to buy it, i dont have the cash for my drive so im double screwed lol, omg.. you have no idea how sick of playing multi player cod, only thing i like is zombies… but now my drive is fryed so, meh, i need rage in my life… lol. john is n engineer for ‘nasa’ im sure he can keep servers from lagging… hes like the john stark of video games!!!! lol. i have faith in john carmack, its said that if he came out with doom4, the size of the game will be so huge it would take at least Six disks on xbox, and two blue ray disks on ps3….. i have a strong feeling hes gonna wait for the ps4 era.. when he drops doom4 its gonna be somthin this world has never seen, statistically speaking…….

Well, actually I have another program which supports “dds” files, so it wouldn’t be a real problem, but the fact remains that the procedure to make these themes looks quite long, and honestly I don’t know how long I have left to think of making them… so, I prefer to keep making the standard ones.
BTW, time ago you told me that your girlfriend would have helped you to send me that Doom material: well, I’m still waiting… 😉

I saw a video, and it looks like ID Software made a great work!
You know, I never liked FPS, but lately I was intrigued and fascinated by the “Blade Runner” style atmosphere of Deus Ex Human Revolution, so I decided to buy and play it and… I have to say I didn’t have regrets: and now, I’m also fascinated by the Rage’s “Mad Max” style atmosphere 😛
So, considering that this game has been made by ID Software (and John Carmack, of course) and they made masterpieces like Doom and Quake, well… since you’re a great fan, I thought maybe you already bought it 😉
As for my health… well, the degenerative process keeps going on, but looks like the cure I’m doing is slowing it down a bit: nothing special, though…
So, let’s say the “matrix in my chest” is gradually losing its energy, but Optimus will go on until the last spark will be there…

i hear ya, resident evil needs to go back to its roots… bad, if survival horror at that capacity wasnt broke, they shouldn’t have tryed to fix it… lol, on another note, did you guys see the new type of themes that are emerging!!?? they are like gif based, i gotta say, it looks impressive.. i think theres finally a new type of dynamic that shows promise, although i dont know how ‘hands on’ you can get with the backgrounds, im not n expert.. lol, but im way more impressed than when the first type of dynamic hit the site,,, these are the type of dynamics i was waiting for…… 🙂

@doom Having a good setup is great, makes your gaming that much more enjoyable. I agree with OPTIM US about op rc. If they do a good job with it i’ll pick it up. I do hope Re6 goes back to it’s survival horror roots. Gonna be interesting to see how the series advances story-wise.
@OPTIMUS Lol, what I meant by “anything good” was if they were themes of great games like Uncharted or something. Themes of popular games, stuff like that. I will be sure to stay tuned 🙂

@frkgamer, you can say that again!! metal gear is the shit!!! i just got a Lcd tv not too long ago, the last time i played mgs2 or 3 was on a 20′ glasstube television, lol 3 prong with no surround… now i got 5 prongs, 32′ Lcd, and a nifty little gaming surround sound unit with a little sub woofer.. lol, i just beat re4, i think its time to get into a little mgs…
@OpTiMuS. yeah i feel ya about 4, there wher things i liked about it n things i didnt,, however part 2 was my favorite, woah, deja vu. lol, anyway, this new op rc sounds a little interesting, if i read up on it correctly, the events in ‘op rc’ are taking place during the part 2 timeline.. also it sounds like its very ‘online’ oriented, alot of team games.. its one of those games you dont buy right away,, just wait n see how it does first, ya know.. im just praying they dont eff it up..

Oh man… You absolutely have to play the first Resident Evil (better if the Director’s Cut edition)!
The first 2 RE (BioHazard, since I played the japanese versions of all 3 games :P) were the best ever: the 3rd was not so bad (but not at the same level of the previous games)… with RE4 I started being a little disappointed, not to mention the 5th: that’s not Resident Evil and I’ve not even finished playing it!
Now, they’re making Operation Raccoon City: well, the possibility to get back to Raccoon City intrigues me much, but also this game will not be a REAL Resident Evil (although they’ve officially announced RE6, which is supposed to be a return to the origins)… 🙁
As for Metal Gear… I absolutely agree: Snake (yeah, Pliskin! :D) has been the best character of all time, in my opinion!
And I think they could perfectly make other games with him, especially considering that (as you rightly pointed out) Solid and Liquid (Les enfants terribles :P) were already clones of Big Boss.
But, you know… the king is dead: long live the king! 🙁
[You should try to play the very first 2 Metal Gear games that came on MSX, maybe via emulator: they made the history!]
@doom I also started Resident Evil on the sequel, I loved that game at the time. Was incredible! I started MGS on the first one though on ps1. I beat that game sooooo many times lol. Same goes for MGS2 on ps2. I beat them all along with the Resident Evil games. They’re 2 of my favorite gaming franchise’s.

i never got the chance to play the first mgs, but i played the rest, funny, same with resident evil, i started that on the sequel aswell, hmm, maybe one day ill run through them both.. ill save them for a rainy day, however i didnt really finish the last metal gear, and never started the last resident evil, i feel like the characters didnt sit well with me.. snake was n old man, and that dude in resident evil wasent leon kennedy… idk, i guess im just rambling… lol.
ive been using the icons,, using a pic of my daughter as the wallpaper, im loving the craftsmanship of the icons, the blue is one of my favorite colors and it all comes together nicely,, you have a style that is un matched when it comes to icons,, they just ‘flow’. the riden wallpaper is beast too, they gotta bring snake back in the future.. for real…. like a fresh clone… lol. riden is pretty cool n all, but ‘snake pliskin’… is the balls… shit, hes gotta be thee most badass cg character in history!! hes like the clint eastwood of video games.. lol

Lol! The only “green box” I had was the first one: I bought it just because in that period they made the remake of Shenmue (that I loved and played on Dreamcast) but then I also liked a game called Brute Force… 😛
Uhm… Resistance 3, huh? @OPTIMUS I’ve been playing alot of Xbox lately lol. Currently playing a couple new games one of which is Resistance 3. It’s a great game, my favorite of the 3. Really looking forward to Gears 3 Tuesday though. So… how have you been and what are you working on next?

Well, the fact is that theme is quite old: I made it in 2009 and, if I remember correctly, in that period there were no minis, chat room text and video upload icons yet (but maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know…)

I saw the tribute theme you made for the MGS its another exellent theme and perfect MGS theme but I saw something the icon “save data minis” its not there. Can you make the icon for the “Save game data minis” if you want only upload the icon i can pre-compile the theme again for me ! But… well, I’m sorry, but there’s no raw file because there are no layers, the image is as it is…
I created the hexagons for the background and saved it as base in PNG format, then I drew all the components, symbols, etc separately, in the end I copied/pasted everything on the base background: then I saved directly in PNG format and converted to JPEG, that’s all…
Although it may seem so, I don’t use layers to make my themes: actually I draw everything directly on the image, pixel by pixel (old school style), always keeping in mind all the measures, dimensions, distances and so on of the elements I want to create, or at most, I draw them as if they were separate parts of the same background, and then I put them together like a puzzle… 😛
Lol! I know it may seem complicated: you know, remembering 10 different things while you’re drawing 10 others at the same time is quite hard, but that’s how my brain works, and it always been my working style… 😉
