Awesome theme!
I love this game.
I’d love if you made a Grand Theft Auto IV theme as this one. Cause as far as I know, you only made 2 kinds of this theme, the TLAD one and this one. I love your work, keep it up!
i’ll have to update this theme, so expect the edited version soon-ish
Hey mate, what have been about your idea to reedit the theme with the rainbow icons plus some modified ones??
treasure hunting is very easy, but still fun. exams tomorrow….. and here i am on my ps3….DOH!!
Yeah, just like I did to kill 4 of those 6 bears that attacked me! I put my back against the wall near the door: the bears continued to turn around the hut and when they tried to hit me, I leaned over the wall and with the dead eye I stuck 5 or 6 bullets into head, then behind the wall again. If they get too close, I quickly walked away closing the door, then reopen it and kept shooting.
Inside the hut it was difficult to identify the bears, especially because there was a strong storm (the lighting effects are really beautiful) which covered the sounds and made everything confused, but… WOW! I think this was much more exciting than face 20 bandits simultaneously! 😀
Yep! It’s hard enough to sneak close to a man to kill him with a knife, let alone try to do the same thing with a Grizzly… O_O
Ok, I’ll try to find again those damn beavers, so I can start the treasure hunt!
i did the treasure hunter bouny. the beavers are not necessarily right next the river, they are in about 10-20 metres. i know the hut you are talking about, it’s where i did the “melee a bear” challenge. i stood in the doorway, shot him in the the feet 5 times with my evans repeater and finished him off with the knife. i tried going toe to toe with the knife but its impossible, (although i only figured out that roll manoeuvre online when i organised a sword fight competion) i also had a jousting competion. (knife on horseback)
Yeah, absolutely true! It must be some kind of algorithm that works when it wants since the days of GTA3… 😀
I already gone 4 times to Aurora Basin and each time I found only raccoons and bears: the last time I was attacked by 6 bears which have killed my horse, so I had to take refuge in a hut and from there I had to kill at least 4 of them before managing to escape. But no beavers! Maybe the bears eat them… 😛
I also searched along the entire river that separates New Austin from Mexico, but absolutely nothing 🙁
Well, I found and saved many treasure hunters in New Austin: only one of them gave me a map, but I’ve not started to search yet (I’ve not even checked the map… :P)
where the hell do you bounty hunt treasure hunters, i swear i tried everywhere. dont bother answering that, i’m gonna google it right now.
around (aurora?) basin, i found a load along the river, sometimes they just dont appear, and when they do, theres tonnes of em. i was looking for a bear to kill for the trophy (18 kills), was searching for ages, then i found 1 & killed it, when i went to skin it 3 more came over and mauled me to death. when you kill an animal, i find if you stand over its body more will appear. it’s like in gta, you see a cheetah (car not cat!) and when steal it EVERYONE else seems to have one. but they are around somewhere.
Well, at least longevity is guaranteed… 😀
By the way, guys, I finished the game (but not 100%): there’s still a secondary mission I have to complete… 😛
The mission is that of unknown guy in Mexico who needs some materials to complete and test his glider: ok, I have herbs and bird feathers, but… WHERE THE HELL ARE THE BEAVERS???
I searched near the rivers to the north, as he told me, but hell if I found one! 🙁
i think they could have experimented a bit more with the missions. its an easy game so the shooting itself i thought got a bit boring after a while. they could have made the last mission the first mission and you would still nail it. revolver was a very tough game. when you had to plant the bombs on the bridge was barely passable, there was hundreds of guys to take out. but luckily redemption has plenty to keep you busy. i’m only starting the multiplayer now. i’m on 98.7% in the actual game, not sure what i’m missing though.
@Dahl-Looool!!! A duel with the invisible man! Hey, Dahl: WHO YOU GONNA CALL? 😀
@Yogosan-Yes, indeed… Redemption seems very simplified compared to Revolver. In practice, we could say they’re two completely different games, but with the same western setting: this is certainly due to the fact that the first Red Dead in 2004 was not a Rockstar game, but an abandoned project of Capcom, then completed and marketed by Rockstar. Instead, Redemption is just a GTA set in the west… but, as rightly you say, maybe the game would have been even better if they kept most of the ideas used in Revolver :(. Maybe that’s why Redemption (although beautiful and well made) seemed to me more like an experiment for something more complex in future.
never tried revolver, and never figured you could actually press L2, so i just put my hand to my gun, pulled et out, and started shooting 😛
it was harder in red dead revolver, in redemption you just press L2 to draw your weapon, in rvolver, you controlled your hand with the analogue and had to bring it down onto your weapon, while marking your shots, if you pull up before u grab the gun your left standing, pointing ur finger at the guy, but if you play it too safe and make sure you grabbed your gun the other guy will already be shooting you. it makes sense in theory but it was near impossibe for the final boss. you HAD TO put at least 4 in his head, and he was lightning quick. in redemption they replaced the hand control with the zoom effect which means the sooner u presd L2, the less accuracy you have, but the duals in redemption are 100 times easier than revolver, but in revolver, it took serious skill. there’s alot of stuff they should have kept in from revolver, the actual missions in revolver, were way more fun, mainly because wasnt free roam (sandbox). neary everything iv seen in redemption has been done better in revolver, but redemption just has so much more to do. revolver had train robberies, bow n’ arrows, full scale wars, and more, it’s hard tio remember, its been a long time
only glitch i’ve had so far wa this guy duelling me, and just as we we’re about to draw he bacem invisible -.-
had to try again, so i put 8 bullets right between his eyes 😀
i think the duel system is kind of weird :O
i finished the game by the way, the ending was good because the missions at the end were more to do with your family, it would have been better if the other missions were a bit more personnal than the last few. for example if he infiltrated that mexican generals army because he knew they knew bill instead of just doing missions that don’t really……mean anything. plus, that would be alot like eastwood in those spaghetti westerns. 😀
lol, i’v seen much crazier glitches on youtube, rockstar know about them, their is dupposed to be a patch incoming.
This one looks great! I’m always looking for GTAIV theme and this one is just perfect.
What? Even the train and the poker table?!?
Well, I could understand this can happen with a train or a building, but even a miserable table…! O_o As I said, I just had some frame rate and pop-up problems, but not this.
Wow, it seems as if you bought the only “totally failed” copy of this game…
However, I can only agree with you: I think that porting a game from a console to another (or develop for different consoles at the same time) is ruining the reliability – and maybe even the quality – of the games…
Unfortunately, developing a game has become so expensive that almost all software house prefer to support all consoles on the maket. And the worst thing is that, apart from buying only exclusives (which are not free of defects, though) there’s nothing else we can do… 🙁
i mainly just wanted to list some of my problems with the game that all reviewers some how missed. and yes the the textures pop-in can be terrible sometimes, entire building and one even the train failed to load, and the poker table disappeared on me! most of these happened in blackwater. i just wish they used the power of the ps3 to make these things better, instead they made them worse due to a terrible port from the 360 version, and in comparison, it is actually the worst port i’v seen yet. that being said i usually go for exclusives as much as possible.
Hey, you should do the reviewer… 😀
Well, to a large extent you’re right Yogosan, but you have to consider that sarcasm has always been a “trademark” of Rockstar and yes, maybe the “vocabulary” of John Marston is not so rich, but I suppose this is partly due to the context of the game and partly to the fact that developers wanted to recreate that feeling of “forced isolation from the rest of the world” that should characterize a lonely cowboy with a bad past behind like John…
About movie references, I totally agree: it wouldn’t be bad if they filled the game with several references to the many western movies that have been made (better next time!)
Well, I saw various videos about bugs, but I’ve not had any of them… on the contrary, I think this was the “cleanest” game I ever played: the only things that bothered me were the high pop-up in certain areas and the low frame rate in Blackwater… this is very strange, since that 90% of the game is made of barren expanses and Blackwater is just slightly larger than Escalera! 🙁
Yep! Horses are very beautiful (you can even see their muscles flexing) and I really like to gallop into the sunset and feel the wind in my hair and tighten my legs around their belly and… EHM… COUGH! COUGH! 😛 Ok, traveling with a horse for long distances can become boring, but at least there’s the camp kit which allows to quickly reach the destination (or the marker placed on an area) and there are also trains and stagecoaches…
Well, all in all, I think we have no reason to complain: Rockstar has packed a great game that could even be a solid basis for a hypothetical RDR 3 (considering how the game ends… O_O)
Now, I’m curious to see what they invented for GTA V (Vice City???): yes, I also liked GTA IV less than its predecessors and maybe the ideas really begin to be few and recycled, but who knows…?
vice city was my fravourite, but i also loved gra 3, which was liberty city. so seeming i didnt like gta IV, i probably wont like this either. red dead is good because its completely different but returning to vice + liberty city just seems like their running out of ideas. sure, the graphics will be better, the city will be bigger, but i dont think the missions or characters will be as good. will have 2 wait and see. every rockstar game is gauranteed to get a 9.5+ rating anyway. i would give red dead a 9/10. which is still good, but the devs could have ironed out the bugs if they wanted, the john marston character is boring and everything he says is either sarcasm or “i just wanna find my wife and child……but i’ll help you anyway” which makes the missions feel completely unrelated to the story, where as in vice city you goal is to take over the city, and most of what you do is to gain power. but apart from that the game is perfect. i just wish they made the character like clint eastwood, that would just be badass. and they could have put in more movie references, everybody loves movie references! the game is also very easy, i only die when i fall off a cliff or when a cougar hops out of the bushes. i havnt been kiled (shot dead) yet and i just got into the 3rd island……. oh and even though the horses are vool, it does eventually get extremey boring going from place to place……i’m not gonna spell-check all that 🙂
Well, I really liked Vice City so I’m happy for this… 😛
But I also liked San Andreas, so… if maths is not just an opinion :D, I’m sure that GTA VI will be set there!
Finished it to, so now i’ll go nuts in multiplayer 😀
Vice City huh? I heard rumors of Tokio 😛 Kind of to bad though cause i hoped we would go to San Andreas again 🙂
