Hey all
I have been using theme creator 3.0 without issues and have created a theme with it recently now after having formatted my cpu and reinstalled windows and re did all my updates i have created another theme this time when i go to build it i get this error
"The application has failed to start because msvcp71.dll was not found. Re-installing the applucation may fix the problem."
Any help would be appreciated.

Well, the MSVCP71.dll is a Windows runtime library that works along with the MSVCR71.dll of Theme Builder: maybe it has been lost during the reinstalling procedure you made...
You should find another one (searching in some Windows downloading site, or simply "googling") and, if I remember correctly, it should be placed inside the Windows "System32" folder.
Anyway, before doing that, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall everything again (be sure to install Theme Builder 2.5 "Full install" version and then Theme Builder 3.0): this way, it should work again... if not, just find the missing .dll file like I said.
Hope it helps!

Looks like i just needed to install the visual basic library update.
Thanks for the help
I seem to be having trouble with this as well. Only difference is, I can't use the 3.0 update because the PS3 Theme Builder won't open. It only opens when I use the 2.5 (Full)
Those 2 files msvcp7.dll & msvrp7.dll
I found them both and placed them in the windows/system32 directory.
I uninstalled and reinstalled and that didn't work.
I removed those files and uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted and I'm still getting the same error.
It seems as though you may have got it to work by "installing the visual basic library update"
I would like to know exactly where it is I have to go and get that?
I am also using Windows Ultimate 7 if that means anything.
Is there any kind of software to make PS3 themes for the Mac? I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find anything that does this.
If you or anyone could get back to me with any answers, I would surely appreciate it! I have a theme already fully custom built and I keep running into errors everywhere which is starting to get extremely frustrating on my end. Thanks for reading and take care!

If you're using Win7... well, your case is different, mate.
As I explained to many guys, PS3Theme Builder has been programmed to work under WinXP, so you now have to follow these simple steps:
(first of all, uninstall everything)
==>Install PS3Theme Builder 2.5
==>Install PS3Theme Builder 3.0
==>Download the 4.0Beta files (you can find them here)
==>Go to the folder where PS3Theme Builder is installed and replace the 3.0 files with the 4.0Beta ones.
After that, the program should work properly...

Good ol' OPTIMUS saving the day once again! I was having this same prob after installing the program again on this junkbox pc, downloading a MSVCP71.dll file and placing it in the system32 folder did the trick!
You really are the pulse of this site man.

Yeah long time! I got the urge to make something lastnight, had to basically setup up my entire pc again before that happened too >.< but if it weren't for this topic all that work would have been for nothing!
I just uploaded it a few min ago so probably won't show up on here for awhile, Dragon Age 2! I know.. but I just got it the other day for $5 - pretty good game for being THAT cheap lol so it inspired me. I think it turned out pretty nice though, extra bloody too 😉

Only 5$?!? Oh man... you're veeery lucky! Here in Italy is very hard to find something so cheap: even the games released 1 year ago (or more) cost at least 20€
As for the theme... well, I prefer not to see it now: it doesn't make sense for me seeing a theme before it's released because I don't want to spoil the surprise, so... I'll wait
Anyway, welcome back, mate!

That makes sense 😛 just don't get your expectations too high haha I do my themes within a few hours and i'm pretty rusty.
and yeah $5 games is pretty nuts here too. There's a shop here called TheSource here and I recently discovered their in-store clearance section. I've gotten several games from there over the past week (LA Noire, Dead Space 2, Transformers: War for Cybertron, and more) all in the $4.96-9.96 range (some even limited editions!), meanwhile places like Gamestop still wanted $29.99 and up for the exact same thing.
But I think i've taken this thread off-topic more than enough now lol, thanks for the welcome back.

Do you know a good trusted site? I've been having .dll problems too and tried a bunch of different files but wont work. I tried the sfc command in cmd but it couldn't run on the .dll file for some reasons. I run on windows7 x64, and installed 2.5, 3.0 and 4.0b beta but nothing works. After I installe the beta I was able to runt the [Test Drive] but still got the .dll error message on
[Build Theme] :S
