my thoughts on the like dislike buttons , i think there should be a better rating system, like a star rating system , like 5 stars is top stuff 1 ok , there should nt be a dislike button , all the theme makers on this site are the best on the net, and i think its sucks that people can dislike somthing that they have made and have no idea how much work goes into. its kinda not a cool thing i dont want to know if they dont like it really.. its free dont download it if you dont like it . that button pisses me off ... its not because i got a few dislikes or anything like that , its becuase , ive noticed that some of the best themes ive ever seen are being disliked by tools .. that wouldnt know a good theme if it hit them in the eye...

Well, you know... long ago there was already a rating system based on the "5 stars votes" and I have to say it worked quite well, in my opinion.
But even then, there was a lot of people who drastically lowered the average rating by simply clicking 1 star... and believe me: for all the time I've been here, I've seen happening a lot of troubles because of guys who lowered the votes just for fun, without specifying their reasons (or even insulting the theme maker)
So, very often there were real wars between the user who had unfairly attacked the creator of a theme and all the fans who defended him (it happened to me and my friend Yogosan more than once): needless to say that some users were obviously banned for this reason...
That's why the "5 stars" rating system has been removed.
Anyway, clicking on Like/Dislike buttons it's as if you were voting with the stars, so I think that restoring the old system would not change anything.
Also, in the light of what happened (and considering that the new system has been clamored) better to leave things as they are... don't you think?
oh ok , well in that case id prefer them to tell me why they didnt like it , or at least have it so you can not download with out leaving comments , or an add a text box to the dislike button , and have them explain why . its not the dislike that bothers me so much its not knowing why, i think if users cant take the time to comment on the theme that there getting for free then they shouldnt have it , also i think that only members should be able to download .. period
no theme deserves a dislike!! !! ( my thoughts) maybe have a good effort button or something, its not very inspiring to an up and coming theme maker to put effort in and get nothing but dislikes and no comments thats wack ..

I understand you 100%. Why don't change this like/dislike system with a simple "thanks" buttom. You know, to start the download of the theme the user need to press that "thanks " buttom first. I saw it in another site and is more usefull for the creators that a like/dislike buttoms for the same reason that's all know. The heaters arround the site pushing the dislike buttom even without download and use the theme. Anyway what a theme maker needs is a simple thank you after all 🙂

@AUDIODEVIANT & FAXTRON: Uhm... yeah, I think maybe it could be a solution...
Anyway, guys, what really makes the difference between us and the "haters" is the PASSION.
You know, from the day I joined this site, I never cared about votes, stars and stuff like that... sure, I was happy when my themes had 5 stars and they were in the top ten chart for days, weeks or even months, but I always made themes for passion and because I wanted to share my "artistic visions".
I perfectly understand you'd like to know the reason why someone likes/dislikes your works, but not everyone is interested in leaving comments because they simply want to download what they really like.
And then, there are the idiots who only enjoy to despise someone else's works, just because they don't understand how much work and passion lie behind a theme. But you can't fight them, because they're many and they will always be around, so... ignore them. Just focus on creating your themes as best as you can, and share them with us.
And remember... for each negative vote, you will always get 10 positive votes because, if you free your mind avoiding thinking about those guys, you'll work much better and your fans will always be more than those who hate your works (I've been on many other sites before coming here and, as long-standing theme maker, I can assure you that it always been like that)
And don't forget the passion: that's the only secret which allows to be one of the best theme makers, and that's also the reason why I kept making themes for everyone, despite the troubles I faced (and I'm still facing)...

First, I totally agree with OPTIMUS. We make our themes because we enjoy it.
Second, I like the idea Faxtron had with pressing a 'Thanks' button in order to download themes. It would eliminate some trolling and we can get a more accurate count as to how many people may be enjoying our themes.
Me personally, I don't use the dislike button. If a theme is not to my liking I don't say anything.
I agree with audiodeviant also. You should at least be a member if you want a free theme.
@uLtRaMa6nEt1c
its not a bad idea about being a member to download the theme but the problem with that is that it limits it to members only.. there are many people who will probably pass on downloading a theme if they have to create a membership even though it takes a second to make one they're prob lazy lol .. anyway i think clicking thank you in order to download the theme is a better idea since we get a count on how many people are actually downloading/liking the theme
@optimus .. your totally right it is about the passion i am sure its the same for all of us .. look i really think being a member to download would not change a thing on this site, i have done my research , no other theme site comes any were near the theme quality we have here ! i just want , it so the theme makers get a little bit more respect , from the guest users , i feel like were being taken for granted ..... making them become members and make them comment, atleast , the thank you button would work like a charm, in my opinion that's exactly what i was thinking of .something simple , and positive
@audiodeviant
well if there's a "thank you" button that must be clicked in order to download the theme then whats the point of forcing a person to become a member to download it.. it would be redundant .. the solution to all of this is simply to make a "thank you" button for users and guests to be able to download the theme. but then again i don't mind no change at all im fine with the way things are now anyway..

@Jaydee1003 look man it was just a suggestion , one or the other ! it needs to improve there wouldnt be a site without the theme makers how much is it to ask that the user's give a little gratitude!!! nothing negative , i just dont think the dislike button should be a part of the site .. its not a positive thing at all ... alright
@audiodeviant
the only change that would make an impact is the "thank you" button idea which would include removing the dislike button of course.. and actually i dont think the dislike button is a completely negative thing as long as someone tells you why they disliked and i've had alot of people tell me why and suggested a better approach for my next themes which in my opinion helps and is very useful .. for example my uncharted themes sucked and i had tons of dislikes .. now i know not to create a forward/reverse theme like i did with uncharted.. so it is helpful man .. just ignore it if it bothers you that much and create a petition thread for a "thank you" button if you really want a change lol
BTW nice new hat haha
