Don't know if you guys saw the Sony Gamescom press conference but they showed the PS4 user interface a bit.

The good news for us is that the XMB style icons still exists, you can see it at 0.28 in the vid above. So hopefully we'll be able to customize it Smile

Saw this earlier as well! There's still hope! It's like PS3's XMB, only kind of backwards.

It looks like we may get to keep our hobby Laugh
Has anyone even questioned theme support on the PS4? I'm surprised I haven't heard anything of the sort yet.

Here's a good look at the interface:

The point around 0:25 where the XMB goes lower seems like there is a lot of room to have a theme. Hopefully we can put themes on there.

I'm sad to say that the PS4 will not support user customizable themes (don't ask how I know it) :(

Maybe we should start a petition or something to send to Sony, it will probably not work but you never know.

I don't know yet if we'll be able to use custom wallpapers but hopefully that'll at least be an option for us.

It was always likely that we couldn't make custom themes, but they will probably allow custom wallpapers like they did with Vita.

From the few videos I've seen the PS4 will most likely support custom wallpapers. It hasn't been officially confirmed, so I say "most likely".

Theme support may happen in the future. I'm optimistic Smile

Did PS3 have theme support from day 1? I know dynamic themes were introduced in 2008/2009.

This is the link confirming that PS4 won't support user-created themes, at least on launch. I do hope they come in later...Confused

Well im sure this is all about them making money.... after all, thats all the gaming buisness is about Yell

I honestly don't even get themes from psn cuz 85% of them are trash.

If creating custom themes on ps4 was allowed, theyd probaly not make nearly as much money.

Isn't this fawking gay? Forced to pay for online and now forced to get theme's!  total B.S

its sad what the world is coming to, it really is....

Unfortunately, that's what I said from the beginning Cry

I think the point is - as regards PS4, at least - the console has a completely different architecture: the whole hardware has been re-designed by permanently abandoning the previous concept and Sony's proprietary technology, with the aim of creating a more accessible system for developers (who have always complained about that, starting from the PS2 era)... while the Cell processor was specifically designed to ALSO handle a function like that, I guess the new one - even being much more powerful - simply was not created by keeping in mind the full interface's customization of PS4.
I mean: with PS3, Sony's purpose was to create an entertainment system not only powerful (thanks, for example, to new technologies like the blu-ray) but also able to allow users to customize their own "experience" in using that system; with PS4, it seems the priorities have now changed, and the customization of our experience with this console will go through other features.
Anyway, it's also likely that the possibility to install themes will come, maybe with an update... Who knows?
Hope never dies, after all Wink

The first time I laid my eyes upon the PS4 interface I knew that our chances were slim. I mean, the user interface looked a lot like the Playstation Store we have now. It's too "dynamic" it has various elements that allow the user to go back and forth between different menus...

Yeah, it has the typical row of icons, but it's not the highlight anymore. Ths sub-menus have changed drastically, they are full of big advertisements for games, friends livestreaming and such.

That being said, it took the PS3 around 2-3 years to let us make custom themes, so you never know... ;)

I think it will happen just have to wait for updates, they already sending out an update on launch to enable USB headphones. If not there may be a way to access the system and change the theme.

I just saw this article about Shuhei Yoshida mentioning multiple tweets about PS4 won't have dynamic themes for purchase and you can't change your background. I was a little bit disappointed since the PS4 XMB looks a lot better to have an image without the icons getting in the way. Hopefully their will be a patch later on that will allow us to put custom themes on the PS4.

Well I haven't gotten a PS4 yet and it'll be a while b4 I do because I always wait on such things because there always seems to be bugs with new toys. So I wait for the people with money to burn and let them be the beta testers to work out the kinks that the company will undoubtedly claim that they didn't know about and of course people to bitch and moan about how it works differently then the older version and such.

But in this case I agree with ya all in that they should allow for customized themes to be made I mane that's what makes the system uniquely set for that person. So people like cats others like dogs and me I like to see hot chicks on everything, My PC screen, my cell phone and on my PlayStation.

BTW I've only shared a few here and I recently added a few more but apparently not all have been approved. I guess they are too hot for this forum or perhaps I didn't properly cover the girls up enough in the preview image. What ever the case I'll try and share more. Laugh

I'll be taking requests, that is if there are enough quality pics of the selected girl to use as images in the PS3 theme I'll make.
