Gravatar.com is universally used on tons of websites. It actually makes it simpler to have an avatar because you don't have to go around on every site and upload an avatar or on some sites not even signup, just enter your email when commenting and your gravatar will be used automatically.
So I think you're looking at it from the wrong side.

its actually the right side if have to make yet another account that u have to remember .... i have too many accounts as is .... yahoo all 3 psn accounts here gmail imvu aim the last thing i need is yet another account to keep track of
