Yep! You just need to find the right program according to your demands…
Anyway, if it can help you, I use a graphic program called RealWorld PaintCOM: it’s free and user friendly, but it also has professional features.
With a good amount of imagination (and a bit of practice and patience, of course) as you can see from my themes, you’ll be able to reach very good results: it’s all up to you… 😉

As for your next themes, there’s only one feedback I can give you… well, you know, I think you should try making icons by yourself.
I mean, backgrounds for themes are always easy to find, but what really distinguishes a theme from another is the icons set, in my opinion: if you look around, there are tons of themes made with “ready to use icons”, and honestly they seem all the same… but if you make your own icons, your themes will get “personality” and they will start to stand out over time.
Obviously, that’s just my opinion (and a friendly advice) and I don’t wanna force you to do something you don’t feel like, but… well, I speak from personal experience because, you know, when I started making themes veeery long ago, I used simple ready to use icons: sure, my themes were pretty nice and they were also appreciated by someone, but actually I was NOTHING in that period… I was not satisfied, of course, and my passion for themes grew up day by day, so I decided to start making icons with my own hands, and… well, I don’t wanna be presumptuous, but now I’m really proud to say that I’m one of the most appreciated themers.
But I also have to say that aside my passion, or anything else, one thing’s for sure: I have to thank not only my skills but also this site and all of you for this! 😀
So, mate, try to do what I said: develop your style, and make your themes special… as I always said (and still say) to all those who start making themes, “imagination is the only limit”! 😉
^ Dude, Optimus, that sucks… I actually have a lot of your themes on my PS3, I dearly hope you stay awesome for a while longer 😀

Well, lately I had a very bad “surprise”: it turned out that I’m affected by a degenerative process of my brain cells… the process is in a quite advanced stage and it’s irreversible: the cure I’m doing is slowing it down a bit, but I’m destined to become an idiot (and to die, when the process will end)… 🙁
Anyway, I’m still here making themes, for now! 😀
